Went to go see Wild Things with a good buddy of mine. I cried so much, she didn't cry at all. I have her a 20-minute-lecture on the symbolism and meaning of it all, which seemed to have some effect.

Max finds the Wild Things as he's running away from his mom...he finds his mom as he's running away from Carol. But before he comes back, he fixes things with him. When he comes back, he fixes things with his mom.

All the Wild Things are parts of Max. Carol embodies him most, destroying things to deal with his anger and being in the same situation as him.

KW is like Max's mom - she brings home her owl friends, which Carol does not like - Max's mom brings home her boyfriend, which Max does not like. She also protects him from Carol/himself.

As Carol is chasing Max, Max sees what he must seem like to his mother - wild, "out of control", and unpredictable.

The Wild Things are children! When Carol rips out Douglas's arm, sand pours our and he complains - "Hey! That was my favorite arm!" They are hurt but don't feel the pain - they are very resilient (i.e. Alexander and Judith) and forgive Max easily - they have no blood to spill, no pain to feel.

Yup, I did this all myself - I'm so deep.

I'm pretty sure it's right, if I do say so myself. (Heh heh)

I also bought the soundtrack - Karen O., the fecking genius, has done it again. I cried when I listened to the songs too. My favorites are Rumpus, Igloo, and All Is Love.

The same buddy who went to go see it with me is coming over Friday to build forts with me. I like being a kid.
